I was thumbing through Arena Homme Plus AW2009 (with Ed Westwick on the cover) and re-read an article about Tony Viramontes (1956-1988).

The LA-born fashion illustrator and photographer, who passed away at 33, was responsible for some of the most iconic images of the 80s, from work for major houses such as Yves Saint Laurent, Valentino, Versace and Claude Montana to album covers for artists such as Janet Jackson, Donna Summer and the Duran Duran side project, Arcadia. His style involved layering colorful drawings over high-contrast photography.

Limited edition artist- and estate-endorsed giclée prints (stamped, dated and numbered) are available here for £550 ($890), and I’d love to own a couple someday.
